Darren Emerson at Cafe del Mar Phuket 2026
Darren Emerson makes his Club Room debut at Cafe del Mar Phuket on Saturday 1 August 2026, opening the venue's August season of headline nights. A genuine pioneer of British electronic music, Emerson rose to fame as part of Underworld before a long career as a solo DJ and producer, and he brings three decades of techno and house pedigree to the Kamala beach club. It is a strong way to start the month for anyone who takes their dance music seriously.
Who is Darren Emerson
Darren Emerson is one of the defining figures of the 1990s British electronic scene, known first as a member of Underworld during the era of tracks that crossed over from clubs to the mainstream. Since then he has built a respected solo catalogue as a DJ and producer and continues to tour internationally. His sets sit on the techno and house side of the spectrum, favouring driving rhythms and a deeper, more hypnotic feel than mainstage EDM, which is exactly the mood the Club Room is built for once the sun is down. Even casual listeners will recognise the lineage, and dedicated fans get a rare chance to catch a true veteran in an intimate beach-club setting.
Inside Cafe del Mar Phuket
Cafe del Mar Phuket is Kamala's flagship beach club: sun loungers, pools and sunset sessions by day, and after dark its Club Room turns into one of the island's most serious dance-music spaces. The venue looks out over Kamala Beach on the west coast, and it books international and regional names right through the season. If you want to make a full day of it, the club also runs a day pass, so you can settle in from the afternoon before the night set begins.

View listingWhat to expect on the night
This is a strictly 20-and-over night, so bring photo ID. Doors for the Club Room open from around 10:00 PM with last entry at 00:30, so aim to arrive before then rather than turning up in the small hours. VIP tables can be reserved if you want a base for a group, while general tickets get you onto the floor. The Club Room runs later than the beach-club side, so this is a proper late night rather than an early-evening sunset session.
Tickets and getting there
Buy tickets or book a table through the venue's official website rather than a third-party reseller, as the club handles ticketing and table reservations directly. Cafe del Mar sits on the hillside above Kamala Beach, a short taxi or ride-hail from Patong, Surin and Bang Tao. There is no need to plan complicated transport: most visitors simply take a ride-hail door to door and pick one up again at the end of the night.
Good to know
Because the Club Room runs late, it pays to think about how you want to shape the evening. Arriving earlier in the day for the beach-club side, with a swim, a lounger and the Kamala sunset, is an easy way to ease into a night that will not really get going until well after 10:00 PM. Bring photo ID for the 20-and-over door, plus a card and a little cash for tables and bar service. Kamala is quieter and more spread out than Patong, so line up a ride-hail for the trip home rather than assuming you will flag a taxi late at night. Techno rewards staying with it, so pace your evening for a proper late finish.
Around the date in Phuket
Emerson's night opens a busy August run in the Club Room that continues with Robbie Akbal the following Friday and rolls on through the month, so it is easy to line up more than one show if you are staying a while. August is green season in Phuket, which means warm water, quieter beaches and better value on rooms, with short afternoon showers that pass quickly. To plan a full beach-club day around it, our guide to the best beach clubs in Phuket covers Cafe del Mar and the rest of the west-coast scene.
