How to Say I'm Eating in Thai (kamlang kin)
เข้าชม 1 ครั้ง
Saying what you are doing right now
To say you are in the middle of doing something, Thai puts kamlang (กำลัง) in front of the verb. Add the word for eat, kin (กิน), and you get kamlang kin (กำลังกิน), I am eating right now.
The pattern is wonderfully simple, because it works with almost any action. Swap in a different verb and you can say you are walking, working or resting, all with the same kamlang in front. There is no messy conjugation to memorise.
It is a great early grammar win in Phuket, whether you are replying to a friend asking what you are up to or explaining you are still eating when the bill arrives early. This short Thai reel breaks the pattern down so you can build your own sentences.
