Thai has a neat set of words for relationship status. Single is sot (โสด), and in a relationship is mii faen laew (มีแฟนแล้ว), literally already have a partner, built from faen (แฟน), boyfriend or girlfriend.

From there the list covers the big life stages too: engaged, married, separated and divorced each have their own word. Handy for filling out a form, answering a curious new friend or just understanding Thai small talk.
