An off-road ride weekend in the Krabi hills

Krabi Enduro v.5 is the fifth edition of a grassroots off-road motorcycle ride staged in the hills of Ao Luek, inland Krabi. Held at Ban Chong Mai Da School on Sunday 15 November 2026, it brings together dirt-bike and enduro riders from across southern Thailand for a day of muddy climbs, jungle single-track and river crossings. If you already follow the Phuket enduro scene, this is one of the closest big community rides on the mainland, roughly a two and a half hour drive from Phuket across the Sarasin Bridge. It makes a natural road trip for riders who spend their weekends on the trails around Phuket and refuel at enduro-friendly spots like JunJaow Camping and Restaurant up on the Kathu Waterfall Loop.

The event is run by local riders rather than a corporate promoter, so the atmosphere is friendly and social. The organisers promise, in their own words, guaranteed thrills, and green-season Krabi delivers exactly that: soft, technical terrain, plenty of water and the kind of scenery that draws riders to this part of Thailand in the first place.

What to expect

Expect a laid-back but demanding ride day built around Krabi's limestone hills and rubber plantations. Enduro here is not a stadium sport. It is trail riding over natural terrain, with hill climbs, rutted descents, mud sections and stream crossings that reward throttle control over outright speed. Mid-November sits at the tail end of the southern rainy season, so trails are likely to be wet and slick, which is part of the appeal for experienced riders and a real challenge for newer ones.

The school grounds act as the base or paddock for the day, where riders gather, prepare their bikes and set off into the surrounding hills. Community rides like this usually run a marked loop or several linked sections rather than a single timed circuit.

Getting there

Ban Chong Mai Da is in the Khlong Hin area of Ao Luek district, in the north of Krabi province, well inland from the beaches and roughly an hour north of Krabi Town. From Phuket, the drive is around 160 kilometres via Highway 4, crossing the Sarasin Bridge and continuing through Phang Nga before turning into the Ao Luek hills. Most riders trailer or van their bikes in. There is no public transport to the trailhead, so a private vehicle is essential.
