Miyuji Kaneko Piano Recital at Phuket School of Music
Overview
Phuket School of Music continues its international recital series with an evening of solo piano by the acclaimed Japanese pianist Miyuji Kaneko. Billed as "The Virtuoso Piano, from Chopin to Liszt," the concert takes place on Saturday 29 August 2026 at 6:30 PM in the school's recital studio. It is a rare chance to hear a touring concert artist at close range, and a quiet counterpoint to the island's more familiar beach club and bar soundtrack. Seating is limited, so early booking is advised.
The programme
The concert is themed around the great Romantic virtuosos, tracing a line from the poetry of Frederic Chopin to the fireworks of Franz Liszt, alongside other celebrated composers for the piano. The organisers describe a programme built to show the full range of the instrument, from delicate, singing melodies to large scale showpieces. At the time of writing the venue has not published a track by track running order, so the exact list of works and any encores will be confirmed nearer the date. If you want the final programme, contact the school directly or check its official channels in the days before the concert.
Miyuji Kaneko is an internationally recognised pianist who has performed across Europe and Asia and has recorded a dedicated Liszt album, so this repertoire sits squarely in his wheelhouse. Expect a performer known for technical command and colourful, imaginative interpretations rather than a routine run through of the classics.
The venue and recital studio
The recital is held in the school's own studio, a purpose built room seating about 70 people. The intimate scale is the point: every seat is close to the instrument, the acoustic is designed for unamplified classical music, and there is none of the distance you get in a large concert hall. Phuket School of Music opened in November 2018 and uses the space year round for concerts, recitals, masterclasses and workshops, so the room is set up for serious listening. Doors usually open shortly before the start, and latecomers may be asked to wait for a break in the music, so plan to arrive early.
Tickets and booking
Three price tiers are offered. An early bird ticket is 1,200 THB if bought by 16 August 2026, the regular price is 1,500 THB, and a student ticket is 800 THB with valid student identification. Because the studio holds only around 70 seats, tickets can sell out ahead of the night. Book through Phuket School of Music directly by phone on 076 603940 or by email at admin@phuket-music.com, or via the booking links on its official website. Confirm the current price and availability when you reserve, as promotional deadlines apply.
