An easy start that did not stay easy

This latest video captures a proper day of enduro riding in Phuket, filmed on 12 April 2026 by local rider Nicola Vega, the self-styled "White Knight". He is joined by his regular riding partner Charlie, and the two set off from Kathu Lake with a relaxed plan to loop towards Patong. Both are aboard Honda CRF-L machines, the dependable CRF250L and CRF300L that suit the island's mix of loose tracks and tight forest. What begins as a gentle outing slowly turns into the longest ride the pair have recorded here, running to roughly 46 minutes of footage. It is part of Nicola's ongoing Phuket riding series, and it may be the most honest entry yet.

Rocky ground, a fall and a snake

The opening stretch sets the tone. The ground near the start is rocky and uneven, and it is not long before there is a fall, the kind of low-speed spill that comes with the territory when tyres meet loose stone. Nobody is worse for wear, and the ride continues. Not long after, the pair cross paths with a large snake on the trail, a reminder that Phuket's forests are shared with plenty of wildlife. They keep a sensible distance, let it move on, and press further along the route towards Patong. For a while the ride settles into an enjoyable rhythm, exactly the sort of relaxed session the two had in mind.

The wrong turn into dense jungle

On the way back, Charlie and Nicola made a decision that changes the whole character of the day. Rather than retrace their steps, they chose to try a path they had never taken before. It turned out to be a big mistake. The unfamiliar track led them deep into very dense jungle, far tighter and more overgrown than anything they had planned for. What followed was a steep descent with very tight turns and slippery ground underfoot, the sort of terrain that demands full concentration and a careful throttle hand. This is where the title earns itself: genuinely lost in the Phuket jungle, picking a line through the trees and hoping the next turn opens up.

Why this one is worth watching

At around 46 minutes, this is a proper epic rather than a quick highlight reel. The length is the point. You get the full arc of a real ride, from the easy-going start at Kathu Lake to the tense, committed riding of that final descent. There is no staged drama here, just two friends on capable bikes making an honest error and working their way out of it. For anyone who enjoys watching real riding unfold at its natural pace, it rewards the time you give it. You can find more clips like this one in the Adventure & Riding collection, alongside the rest of Nicola's series.

Ride it yourself, safely

If the footage tempts you towards the trails, plan sensibly. The clearest lesson from this ride is simple: do not take unknown paths late in the day, when light and energy are fading and a wrong turn is hardest to undo. Ride within your ability, especially on steep, slippery descents that can catch out even experienced riders. Respect the wildlife, as the snake encounter shows, and give animals room to pass. Remember too that much of the island's back country runs through plantations and private land, so stay on established routes and treat the ground you cross with care. Best of all, go with someone who knows the trails, as Charlie and Nicola do together. To plan a route, browse the island's trail network and read up on enduro as an activity before you set off. Handled with respect, enduro riding in Phuket is some of the most rewarding riding in southern Thailand.
