Overview

Laguna Phuket is Asia's premier integrated destination, a sprawling resort complex that covers around 1,000 acres of parkland and beachfront along Bang Tao Bay on the northwest coast of Phuket. Rather than a single hotel, Laguna Phuket is a self contained holiday town built around a system of former mining lagoons, tropical gardens and a three kilometre stretch of golden sand facing the Andaman Sea. The land has a remarkable backstory. It was once an exhausted tin mine, an area of acid laden, polluted ground that many considered beyond saving. In 1984 the founders acquired 222 hectares of this abandoned mining land and began a long rehabilitation, replanting more than 7,000 trees and slowly turning the scarred landscape into the green, water woven parkland you see today. Banyan Tree Phuket opened as the flagship resort in 1994, and the destination has grown around it ever since.

Today Laguna Phuket brings together six hotels, more than 1,400 rooms, an 18 hole golf course, spas, wellness clinics, restaurants, shops, residences and a calendar of signature events, all connected by complimentary shuttle buses and boats. It is designed so that guests staying at any of the member resorts can roam freely across the whole complex and share its facilities.

The resorts and what is inside

Six hotels sit within Laguna Phuket, each with its own character. They are Banyan Tree Phuket, the original luxury pool villa flagship; Angsana Laguna Phuket, a lively family and lifestyle resort; Cassia Phuket, an apartment style stay aimed at independent travellers; Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket, a Thai heritage beachfront resort; SAii Laguna Phuket; and Homm Suites Laguna. Between them they cover everything from honeymoon villas to family suites and long stay apartments.

Beyond the hotels, the complex includes a growing collection of branded residences and villas for purchase or rental, among them Angsana Residences, Banyan Tree Residences, Cassia Residences, Garrya Residences, Laguna Residences, Laguna Lakelands and Skypark. Wellness is a major theme, with the Banyan Spa and Wellbeing Academy and the BDMS Wellness Clinic Laguna Phuket on site. Families are catered for by SILK Laguna Phuket, an international kindergarten within the estate.

Golf, the lagoon and the beach

At the heart of the estate is Laguna Golf Phuket, an 18 hole championship course that winds between the old mining lakes and coconut groves. The interconnected lagoons that give the destination its name are used for gentle water activities, and the beachfront opens onto the Andaman Sea, where guests can try sailing, kayaking, jet skiing and stand up paddle boarding. Laguna Park and the Rava Beach Club add further space to relax, and a network of walking and cycling paths, including a regenerative nature trail, threads through the greenery. Because the whole area is car light and connected by shuttle boats gliding along the canals, moving between the golf, the beach and the pools is part of the Laguna Phuket experience.

Dining, shopping and events

Dining spans the member resorts and the wider estate, from beach clubs to Thai and international restaurants. Canal Village is the central shopping area, and the Lifestyle Weekend Night Market brings food stalls and local vendors together on a regular basis. Laguna Phuket is also known as an events destination. It hosts the long running Laguna Phuket Marathon and the Laguna Phuket Triathlon, along with open water swim events and community gatherings such as HIDOGS Phuket. The estate is a popular choice for weddings and for meetings and incentives, with dedicated MICE venues across the resorts.

Location and getting there

Laguna Phuket sits at 390/1 Moo 1 Srisoonthorn Road, Cherngtalay, Thalang, Phuket 83110, on Bang Tao Beach in the north of the island. It is roughly 25 minutes by road from Phuket International Airport, which lies just to the north, and around 45 minutes to an hour from Phuket Town and Patong to the south. Once inside, the complimentary shuttle buses and canal boats make it easy to explore the whole complex without a car.

Good to know

Laguna Phuket is a destination rather than a single bookable hotel, so guests book a specific member resort and then share the wider facilities. It suits families, couples, golfers and long stay visitors alike. Access to some venues, spas and the golf course may be reserved for resort guests or require a booking, and event dates change through the year, so it is worth checking the official Laguna Phuket website before you travel.
